Welcome To Brookedale Farm

Family owned since 1968

Our Story

After the founder of Brookedale Holsteins Dairy Farm, Donald “Sonny” Brooke, passed away at age 56, Donna and her brother, Bill, took over the farm at ages 19 and 20. Through hard work and perseverance, the Dairy Farm has diversified into much more than they ever dreamed! Over the years, Brookedale Holsteins has split into two entities – the Dairy is now run by Bill and his son and Donna and her husband, Donnie, began Brookedale Farm. Brookedale Farm, over time, has evolved into a Greenhouse, a Corn Maze and even an event building they call the Stadell!! Donna says,” We thoroughly enjoy meeting new people, showing them around our farm, and educating them on agriculture. We have been in the farming business all of our lives – dairy farming most of it! Our mother and father, Donald and Marie, purchased the farm in October of 1968. Dad had always been a dairy farmer and even as a young boy had milked the cows before school then delivered the bottled milk on his way to school!” In the Spring of 1986, Donna’s dad passed away and as you can imagine, life changed drastically. Donna continues, “Not sure how our father “made ends meet” so to speak – to say the least times were tough! We were determined, however, not to lose the farm our father loved. To resolve this, we diversified to save the farm 20+ years ago. God has blessed us with a country way of life! It has been a lot of work, but we have met and still meet so many wonderful people who visit us here on the farm. There is something going on at Brookedale every season of the year! We hope you’ll come see us down on the farm in the spring for your gardening needs, for entertainment in the fall at our Corn Maze or hold a special event at The Stadell anytime of year!” The world has changed in just a short period of time, and a lot has happened through efficiencies and technology – agriculture has changed. One thing remains the same – no matter how much the world changes – agriculture will still put the majority of the food and fiber on our tables and in our homes.” Fact: 1% of the population are farmers raising our food and fiber – feeding the rest of the population. Let’s self-sustain ourselves by growing our own gardens again and raising more of our own food.
